Back home we had family, friends, neighbors, and now we have no one here
Sara and her family with the Refugee Aid and Miksaliste team My family comes from Syria, from the village of Shemaliya of Aleppo.
Back in Syria there is a lot of fighting and I took my children and fled. We crossed the sea and it was very dangerous for the children and for me, but thank God, the Greeks rescued us with a rescue boat and helped us. They were good and nice to us. Today I am grateful to you for helping us here in this center in Belgrade.
Here they treat us as best they can and, God willing, I will go to Germany. At Miksalište I like most that there is someone to take care of children and play with them. Also, it is very important that children can go to the doctor, because the children need a doctor after this journey. We have no money and could not pay for a doctor.
At home we had family, friends, neighbors, and now we have no one here. We no longer have someone to talk to. My daughter Alla learned English at a school in Syria, and she has helped us to interact since the beginning of our journey.
I hope that we will get the papers today, and while we wait for the rest of the family, we will be sleeping in the camp in Krnjača. Upon their arrival, we will continue onwards to Germany.
