It's scary when you instantly lose what you have built a lifetime

For three months I've been on my journey from Syria. I'm traveling with my wife and daughter. In Syria I had a nice life. We no longer have a house as it was shelled and then we had to leave, we realized that our lives were in danger.

That was when my life there ended. Even today we do not understand why they picked our house. We literally lost everything. I packed my wife and daughter and went. My daughter was going to school up to 11 years and after that I had to pull her out. We had to defend her, because the army entered the school and took the girls to the army and forced them to become part of ISIS. How could I let my daughter go away and grow up in such a world? My wife and I are old, but at least our daughter can experience a different life. To have an education, to grow up and see the true value of life. When you realize that you built up something your whole life that could so easily be lost is really scary.

We came together with a family from Iraq whom we met in Istanbul. Many have helped us, because my wife and I are old and do not speak any of the languages.

I hope that they will accept us here in Serbia and that I will be able to work. Thank you for everything you have given us here at Miksalište.
